Overview
Dental medicine also referred to as dentistry and oral medicine, is a specialized field of healthcare focused on the well-being of teeth, gums, and the mouth. This area of expertise involves a comprehensive examination, diagnosis, prevention, supervision, and therapy of various mouth-related ailments, disorders, and conditions, with a particular emphasis on the development and arrangement of teeth, known as dentition, and the oral mucosa. In addition, dentistry may encompass the treatment of other components of the craniofacial complex, including the temporomandibular joint. A dental practitioner is commonly referred to as a dentist.
